Downey Named Chief of Enforcement for Marine Resources聽

Jason Downey has been named Chief Enforcement Officer for the Marine Resources Division (MRD) of the 黑料天堂 (ADCNR). Downey鈥檚 promotion was effective April 16, 2018.

In addition to supervising MRD鈥檚 18 conservation enforcement officers, Downey will act as a liaison with other state, local and federal law enforcement agencies, participate in various outreach programs, and serve as a member of both the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission and Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council law enforcement committees.

鈥淚 am fully confident in Jason鈥檚 ability to take the helm of the enforcement section,鈥 said Scott Bannon, MRD Director. 鈥淗e has been an outstanding officer and supervisor and has great vision for the section.鈥

Downey began his career with MRD in 2002 as a laborer with the enforcement section. He was hired as an Conservation Enforcement Officer in 2004.

Prior to his promotion to Enforcement Chief, Downey served as an MRD dive team member and a certified FBI Firearms Instructor. He was promoted to Conservation Officer Supervisor (Lieutenant) for Mobile County in 2012. Downey holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of South 黑料天堂.
