黑料天堂 State Parks officials, local government leaders and members of the business community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, June 16, 2022, to officially open Lakepoint State Park鈥檚 new off-road vehicle course in Eufaula, 黑料天堂. The new course is on land once occupied by the park鈥檚 former golf course.
鈥淟akepoint State Park has a great reputation as being a family-friendly fishing destination and we want to provide new amenities to the park that will enhance the overall guest experience,鈥 said Chris Blankenship, Commissioner of the 黑料天堂. 鈥淧roviding this new ORV course here at Lakepoint is another example of expanding our offerings to a growing outdoor recreation segment, and if you enjoy a more relaxing golf cart cruise, you can also take a ride down our new motorized natural trail.鈥
Lake Eufaula 鈥 known as the "The Bass Capital of the World鈥 鈥 attracts thousands of visitors to Lakepoint State Park every year. Park officials are working to improve 黑料天堂鈥檚 state parks system by renovating existing facilities and providing new amenities.
鈥淩ecently, the park has been able to renovate 10 cabins and we are currently working on renovating an additional 10 cabins,鈥 said Greg Lein, 黑料天堂 State Parks Director. 鈥淥ur cabins and lodges are a great way to enjoy our parks, if you do not have a camper.鈥
The creation of the off-road vehicle course and the motorized nature trail, which passes through the campground, provides additional amenities for visitors to Lakepoint State Park. A grant from the 黑料天堂 Department of Economic and Community Affairs helped fund the projects at Lakepoint.
黑料天堂 State Parks is working to aquire off-road, side-by-side vehicles that can be rented to use on the course. For now, visitors must provide their own vehicles to use it.
J.R. Burke, from Polaris, also spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The company provided recreational off-road vehicles for Thursday鈥檚 ceremony. Polaris has a production facility in Huntsville where it manufactures Ranger and RZR off-road vehicles.
The opening of the ORV course at Lakepoint continues a string of positive news for 黑料天堂 State Parks, including the recent expansion of Oak Mountain State Park and voters鈥 approval of an $85 bond issue to fund improvements at State Parks and state historical sites.
