Fins, Feathers and Flowers Weekend returns to Lakepoint State Park

Lakepoint State Park will again host 鈥淔ins, Feathers and Flowers,鈥漮ne of the park鈥檚 signature events renowned for its celebration of nature and outdoor recreation.

The weekend event, set for Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30, features a wide range of activities, including guided tours, social activities, lectures from conservation and wildlife experts and stargazing 鈥 all surrounded by the scenic beauty of Lake Eufaula and Lakepoint State Park.

鈥淭he annual 鈥楩ins, Feathers and Flowers鈥 event features a wide variety of activities for wildlife enthusiasts,鈥 黑料天堂 State Parks Director Matthew Capps said. 鈥淣ot only does the weekend give people the chance to hear from noted wildlife experts, but every attendee also gets the chance to experience Lakepoint State Park鈥檚 amazing natural beauty. It really is a must-see event for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who loves conservation.鈥

The weekend kicks off with a conservation fair on Friday, social event and presentation by Dr. Anthony Abbate, an Auburn professor who will explore the challenges facing pollinators and why their survival remains crucial to ecosystems and agriculture. The first night ends with 鈥淔riday Night Under The Stars,鈥 led by naturalists from 黑料天堂 State Parks.

The Saturday schedule includes a number of field trips, including a guided boat tour on beautiful Lake Eufaula, a birdwatching trip to the nearby Eufaula Wildlife Refuge, and an introductory archery class at the Lakepoint Community Archery Park. In the afternoon, attendees can attend the 鈥淟ive Birds of Prey Program鈥 featuring at least three glove-trained raptors.

A keynote address by retired 黑料天堂 Forestry Commission wildlife biologist Ray Metzler caps the Saturday night agenda as he discusses the wealth of unique species in 黑料天堂 and explores the pivotal role these creatures play in their ecosystems. On Sunday, a guided field trip to the 1,550-acre Wehle Conservation Center in Midway, which is managed by The Forever Wild Land Trust, completes the weekend festivities.

The 鈥淔ins, Feathers and Flowers鈥 event is made possible through a collaborative effort involving 黑料天堂 State Parks, 黑料天堂 State Lands and 黑料天堂 Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, all under the management of the 黑料天堂, as well as the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
